This sound is not available for commercial use

What this means

The audio in the video is rights-protected and not licensed for commercial content. TikTok automatically detects this and blocks the video from being monetized or linked to Shop products. The video can still be posted as organic content but cannot generate revenue.

Common causes

  • The sound is from TikTok's general library, not the Commercial Sound Library
  • The song is rights-protected by a label that has not granted commercial licenses on TikTok
  • The creator's account is classified as a business account, which has stricter commercial audio restrictions than personal accounts
  • The video was originally filmed for personal use and re-uploaded to a business account

How to fix it

1

Use TikTok's Commercial Sound Library

Go to Creator Tools → Commercial Sound Library. All tracks here are cleared for business use. Search by mood, genre, or tempo to find a replacement that fits your video.

2

Replace the sound before posting

Re-edit the video with a commercial-cleared track. If you have already posted, delete and re-upload with the new audio — editing a live video does not update the sound classification.

3

Use original audio

Your own voice, ambient sound, or self-recorded audio is always commercially safe. This is especially useful for voiceover-style content.

4

Post as organic content without product links

If the trend relies on that specific sound, post the video as organic content without product links and direct viewers to your Shop via bio link instead.

Account health impact

Using a non-commercial sound does not trigger a policy violation or affect your AHR score — it simply prevents product linking on that specific video.
